PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES (UNAPPROVED)

MARCH 17, 2022

Meeting started at 7:40 with prayer.

Members present:  Horst Hanneken, Dave Schubert, Deb Woitalla, Doug Knopik, Bernie Hofffman, Russ Woitalla, Denise Young, Jeff Thommes, and Yvonne Kisor.

Guests:  Mark and Alicia Kapus.

Denise made a motion, seconded by Jeff to approve the minutes of the January 20, 2022 meeting.  Motion carried.

Bernie made a motion, seconded by Doug to approve the financial report.  Motion carried.

Canopy work will be done by Horst and Leonard.  They will also put a stop on the east door.

A new range for the kitchen will cost $14,000.00.  Estimate to fix is $234.00/burner and $65.00 for switches.  Deb made a motion, seconded by Denise to have Yde’s fix the stove.  Motion carried.

Doug shared the estimate from Digital Horizons to replace the sound system throughout the entire church.  Deb made a motion, seconded by Denise to table this until the next meeting to give council members a chance to review the estimate.  Motion carried.

Mark and Alicia Kapus presented their offer for cemetery digging.  Russ made a motion, seconded by Denise to offer him $900.00/event.  Motion carried.  We are continuing to check with other churches in the area to see how they handle this.

Leonard and Teresa Thesing have offered to take over preparing and serving for donut Sunday.  It will be the first Sunday of every month.  Thank you Leonard and Teresa.

Carpeting for the entry ways is tabled for now.

The following cemetery by-laws have been adopted.

9.0 Cemetery decorations:  Only one shepherd hook is allowed per monument.  Deb made a motion, seconded by Jeff to approve this update.  Motion carried.

11.0 Memorial work:  Single grave bases shall be no larger than 12″ x 36″, and double grave bases shall be no larger than 12″ x 72″.  Russ made a motion, seconded by Deb to approve this update.  Motion carried.

13.0 Monuments:  A single grave granite base shall be no larger than 12 inches by 36 inches in size; a double grave granite base shall be no larger than 12 inches by 72 inches in size.  Both single and double grave base dimensions are determined by the size of the ribbons available.  Jeff made a motion, seconded by Bernie to approve this update.  Motion carried.

17.0 Definition of a parishioner:  A parishioner shall be defined as anyone properly registered with the secretary-bookkeeper al least one year prior to receiving the discounted rates listed above.

Those currently registered are grandfathered in as of the date of this inclusion into our Cemetery Rules and Regulations, revised on March 17, 2022 by action of the entire parish council.  Motion made by Denise, seconded by Jeff to approve this update.  Motion carried.

Little Falls Granite is now receiving $245.00 for engraving each niche door in the Columbarium.

There was 3000 gallons of heating fuel ordered.

Leonard, Teresa, their kids and grandkids have changed all the basement lights to LED lights.  Thank you.

The mower deck on the lawn mower is worn out.  Leonard is checking into options for a replacement.

The water softener has been out for about a month.  A new water boss system will be put in.

Our organist will play until June 1.  Deb is checking on a replacement.

Council nominations will be the 1st week in May.  Chad Thesing can be re-elected.  Mindy Rudolph, Horst Hanneken, and Russ Woitalla can’t be re-elected.  Elections will be the 2nd week in May.

Holy Name Ham Bingo will be April 10, 2022.

May 19, 2022 will be our next meeting.
