PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES (UNAPPROVED)
OCTOBER 19,2023
The meeting started with a prayer at 6:00 PM led by Fr Aaron, with both Harding & Lastrup council members.
Holy Cross members met in the meeting room following prayer.
Members present were: Dave Schubert, Dave Skwira, Yvonne Kisor Boser, Denise Young, Jeff Thomas, Bernie Hoffman.
Bernie Hoffman made a motion to approve the minutes from the July 20, 2023 meeting. Denise Young seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Denise Young made a motion to accept the treasure’s report, Yvonne Kisor seconded the motion, motion passed.
The council was made aware of Doug Knopik’s resignation from both the financial & parish council. It was decided to appoint another person in his place based on parish elections. Thanks to Doug for his service.
The council reviewed a bid for a 30 x 40 x 9 building from Loidolt Lumber, along with a cement bid & labor bid.
The carpeting has a corner which is coming loose. Yvonne is going to contact the company to have this fixed.
The sacristy roof & ceiling has been tabled; Andy Woitalla is awaiting a phone number for a company for a bid.
Insulation of the north wall & installing the canopy has been tabled.
The parish house gutter issue was tabled, Denise Young is checking in to a possible bid.
There has been no contact yet with a legal advisor for the Diocese regarding the original cemetery.
Denise Young presented bids from Kowalczyk Gravel for the parish cemetery road expansion. There was discussion & it was decided to have the road go to the west rather than north. Leonard & Teresa Thesing will get re-bids.
Head stone straightening was done on July 26, 2023.
Dave Schubert is talking to Mel Boser regarding the ovens in the church basement, to see if they are fixable & checking BTU regulator.
Denise Young presented a check payable to the church for use of the church grounds from the rodeo committee.
There was discussion regarding buying canopies for the church bazaar. Dave Schubert & Jeff will check in to this. Teresa Thesing has purchased 3 as it was ½ price.
Dave Schubert made a motion to give Leonard Thesing a raise. Bernie Hoffman seconded the motion, motion passed.
The council spoke to Fr Aaron regarding mass time of 6:00 PM in the summer & their concerns. They also asked that mass times would be changed for the Horse Parade which is held on December 2, 2023, Rodeo on July 6, 2023 & for our church bazaar. Jeff Thomas is going to speak with either Pierz or Buckman’s council president to see if either parish would be willing to switch mass times for these dates.
Leonard & Teresa Thesing are going to do the tree of lights as well as wreath sales this year.
The Rosary Sodality is going to hold a turkey bingo on October 29, 2023 at 1:30 PM.
Fr Aaron spoke about a consulting firm who is determining how to utilize priests with the current parishes.
The next meeting is scheduled for January 18, 2024 at 7:15 PM in Buckman.
