SHEPHERD’S VOICE:

By being born into a human family, Jesus has given a deeper realization to the importance of family life.  With Mary and Joseph, He brought holiness into human life, forever calling each family to become one that is holy.  May we strive toward that goal, both individually and within our own families.     Fr. David

SOLEMNITY OF MARY, THE MOTHER OF GODOn Monday, we celebrate the great privilege that Mary received in becoming the mother of Jesus, and—because of Jesus being truly God—also being called the Mother of God.  Mass times will be Sunday (today), 8:00 pm at St. John’s, and Monday, 8:45 am at Holy Cross.  A couple of notes:  Catholics are asked to fulfill their Sunday obligation as usual, i.e., by attending Mass either Saturday evening or Sunday morning.  Also, even though the obligation for Jan. 1st is removed this year, as it falls on a Monday, we are strongly encouraged to attend the Eucharist either Sunday evening or Monday morning.

ADORATION AT HOLY CROSSEveryone is invited to attend Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament this Thursday, 7:00 pm at Holy Cross.  Mass will follow at 8:00 pm.

SPECIAL THANKS – I personally would like to thank first of all, Father David for all his extra time with all the extra Masses and inspirational homilies during this Christmas Season.  Also, for John Blissenbach for donating the Christmas trees that were decorated for Christmas plus the Church decorated so beautiful, the Choir and the Guitar Group for their beautiful music, Mass Servers, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers and the Rosary leaders.  Also, I would like to Thank Leonard and Teresa for all their hard work with decorating the Tree of Lights and getting the Christmas Wreaths.  Great job well done, Leonard and Teresa!  Lastly, I want to say thanks to all who sent me cards, money, gifts, and so many thanking me for the great work I do with the bulletins, (sometimes a few errors, but I’m a human being, I’m not perfect), I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and especially of all the Christmas Cards I received this Christmas with my dear husband, Joe, being gone with words of sympathy and prayers for me and Joe!  What wonderful people we have!  Have a Very Happy and Blessed New Year of 2018!!!  GOD BLESS EACH ONE OF YOU FOR 2018!!          Love You All, Grace!!!

RECIPE FOR A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR – Take twelve whole months.  Clean them thoroughly of all bitterness, hate and jealousy.  Make them just as fresh and clean as possible.  Now cut each month into 28, 30 or 31 parts, but don’t make up the whole batch at once.  Prepare it one day at a time out of these ingredients:  Mix well into each day one part of faith, one part of patience, one part of courage and one part of work.  Add to each day one part of hope, faithfulness, generosity and kindness.  Blend with one part of prayer, one part of meditation and one good deed.  Season the whole with a dash of good spirits, a sprinkle of fun, a pinch of play and a cupful of good humor.  Pour all of this into a vessel of love.  Cook thoroughly over radiant joy, garnish with a SMILE and serve with quietness, unselfishness and cheerfulness.

MY CHRISTMAS PRAYER TO ALL OF YOU FROM HOLY CROSS AND SAINT JOHN’S – Gracious God, we rejoice as we celebrate the Birth of Your Son, Jesus.  He is the light of the world whom scatters the darkness of sin.  He is the Savior God sent to redeem us.  He is the way who leads to your peace.  Open your hearts this day to welcome the Precious Gift of Your Divine Son, Jesus.  Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON – JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited!!!
