SHEPHERD’S VOICE:

In today’s Gospel, Jesus cautions His listeners about judging others by what happens to them.  It’s very tempting to look at an event in someone’s life, especially a negative one, and come to the conclusion that it was caused by that person’s good or bad behavior.  We easily apply this same logic to ourselves.  Something inside us says: if you hadn’t done that particular thing, you wouldn’t be suffering the consequences that you now face.  As with all things, there’s a balance that we need here.  I can’t judge that someone suffered a tragedy because of their sin or lack of virtue.  At the same time, I need to realize that sin does have consequences.  Jesus points out that the people in today’s Gospel were no more guilty than others who did not suffer their fate.  Yet, He also tells us that we need to repent.  Lent calls us to that attitude.  May we use these 40 days wisely.      Father David

THANKS, FATHER JERRY!  - We thank Father Jerry Dalseth for filling in this weekend.  Good to have you with us once again!
