PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES

JULY 20, 2017

Meeting was called to  order at 7:35 and started with prayer led by Fr David.

Members present:  Phyllis Schmidtbauer, Dave Schubert, Gary Hebler, Dave Skwira, Fr David, Horst Hanneken, Sheila Rudolph, Russ Woitalla, Deb Woitalla, LeRoy Woitalla, and Yvonne Kisor.

Motion was made by Dave Skwira, seconded by Gary to approve the minutes of the May 18th meeting.  Motion carried.

Motion was made by Gary, seconded by Phyllis to approve the financial report.  Motion carried.

The bandstand will by built on July 29 at 10:00.  Bandstand will be 12 x 12.

Industrial ceiling fans have been installed in both morton buildings.  One in the small building and 3 in the big building.

Deb made a motion, seconded by Russ to buy 2 -  44" octagon picnic tables from Marne Stuckmayer and Dave Woitalla.  The labor to build them is being donated.  Thanks.

Russ will check into getting an outdoor speaker system.

Repair on the pavement in front of the bus garage was tabled until council gets more information.

Marvin Thomas and Horst installed the downspouts.  Thanks.

Deb made a motion, seconded by Gary to replace the kitchen floor.  The work will be done after the bazaar.  Motion carried.

Jenna Brill had necessary repairs to the church vacuum cleaners.  Thanks.

Dave Skwira made a motion, seconded by Gary to raise the salary of the housekeeper by $1/hr.

Dave Schubert is taking care of the handicap ramps.  They should be in place by the bazaar. 

There will be a bazaar meeting on July 27 and 7:30 to determine the bazaar workers list

HOLY CROSS PARISH
PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES
MAY 18, 2017
Meeting was called to order at 7:35 and started with prayer led by Fr David.
Members present: Gary Hebler, Dave Schubert, Phyllis Schmidtbauer, Dave Skwira, Sheila Rudolph, Fr David, Russ Woitalla, Deb Woitalla, Horst Hanneken, and Yvonne Kisor.
Motion was made by Dave Skwira, seconded by Russ to accept the minutes of the last meeting with the following corrections: The date should be March 16, 2017. We will be installing 3 sprayers instead of 4 as voted on at the March 16 meeting. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Dave Skwira, seconded by Sheila to accept the financial report. Motion carried.
The downspouts are here and just need to be installed.
Dave Schubert will contact Joe Bell about the kitchen floor.
The pine trees are down and have been removed. Thanks Jeff Kloss for donating to that project.
LeRoy and Russ Woitalla repaired the granite on the church. Thank you for doing that.
Deb made a motion, seconded by Russ to install 3 ceiling fans in the big Morton building before the bazaar. Motion carried.
Dave Skwira made a motion, seconded by Deb, to install handicapped accessible ramps to both buildings. Motion carried. Dave Schubert will take care of having this done.
Two picnic tables have been donated, one by the Harding 4H Club and one by Russ Woitalla and family. Sheila made a motion, seconded by Gary to purchase 2 eight foot picnic tables for the bazaar. Motion carried.
Horst will get estimates on a suspended ceiling in the church basement.
Tim Brummer brought the sentence to serve people and spring cleaned the church. Looks very nice. Thank you guys.
The bus garage parking lot is in need of repair. It needs to be dug out and new gravel put in. Dave Schubert made a motion, seconded by Phyllis to have Russ get 2 bids. Motion carried.
Deb made a motion, seconded by Phyllis to approve east side landscaping to level the lawn. Motion carried.
Organ volume continues to be a problem. Deb made a motion, seconded by Dave Skwira to have Valerie turn the volume down on the organ. Motion carried.
Rosary Sodality will be going to St Otto's on June 13 at 1:15 to play bingo.

HOLY CROSS PARISH

PASTORAL  COUNCIL MINUTES (UNAPPROVED)

FEBRUARY 19, 2017

Meeting was called to order at 7:30.  Fr David led council in prayer.

Members present:  Phyllis Schmidtbauer, Dave Schubert, Gary Hebler, Horst Hanneken, Dave Skwira, Leonard Thesing, Sheila Rudolph, Deb Woitalla and Yvonne Kisor.

Dave Skwira made a motion to approve the minutes from the January 19, 2017 meeting, motion was seconded by Leonard.  Motion carried.

Sheila made a motion, seconded by Phyllis to accept the financial report.  Motion carried.

Horst will get estimates for the band stand for the bazaar.

The Dynamites 4H group would like to donate a picnic table to the church.

Entry doors are being tabled for now.

Dave Schubert made a motion, seconded by Sheila to order materials for the down spouts.  They will be aluminum and match the color of the roof.  Motion carried.  Horst will order.

Gary made a motion seconded by Deb to install 4 sprayers for the sinks in the kitchen.  Motion carried.  They will be installed before the floor is redone.  Motion carried.

Delores Young and Deb will take care of the council elections.  Leonard and Gary are up for re-election,

Amber is up for Holy Trinity and Horst is up for Fr Pierz.  All can be re-elected.

Dave Skwira will talk to Jeff Kloss about removing the dead tree by the parking lot.

Talked about having a suspended ceiling put in the basement to muffle the sound.  Cost was roughly estimated at $6000.00 for materials and $2500.00 for installation.  Item was tabled for now.

Received estimate from one company to replace the furnaces.  Item was tabled for now.

April 5 is Confirmation.  The Bishop will be there.

April 23 is First Communion in both parishes.

Divine Mercy Sunday will be April 23rd.

Fr would like help keeping track of people in nursing homes, assisted living, or people living alone who would like to have him stop for Holy Communion or prayers.

Fr Pierz is having a meeting March 30.  They are on budget.  They sent two busses for the Relay for Life and worked the MCCL dinner.

No report from Holy Trinity.

Holy Name Society will have their ham bingo on March 26.

Rosary Sodality will be playing bingo in June at St. Ottos.

Next meeting has been set for May 18.

JANUARY 19, 2017
Meeting was called to order at 7:35 and Fr led council in prayer.
Members present: Sheila Rudolph, Phyllis Schmidtbauer, Dave Skwira, Horst Hanneken, Leonard
Thesing, Dave Schubert, Deb Woitalla, Russ Woitalla, Fr David and Yvonne Kisor.
Leonard made a motion to approve the minutes from the last meeting, seconded by Deb. Motion carried.
Treasure's report was read. Russ made a motion, seconded by Sheila to approve the report as read.
Motion carried.
Received an estimate from Little Falls Glass to replace 3 glass doors. Estimate was for $6200 total.
Holy Name Society has agreed to donate $3000 for this project. Should look at getting another estimate.
Northland Fire inspected the church and made the following recommendation. We should install a 10 pound ABC and a K Class extinguisher in the kitchen and a 5 pound extinguisher in the choir loft. Deb made a motion, seconded by Sheila to do so. Motion carried.
First Communion will be April 30.
Council thanks Teresa Thesing for taking care of the Sunshine Committee.
There was a profit of $4005.00 between the wreath sales and the Tree of Lights. Council had previously agreed this money would go towards the turn around in the cemetery. This was the 9th year we have had a Tree of lights. Thanks Leonard and Teresa.
Elections for Holy Trinity, Fr Pierz and parish council will be held on May 7, with nominations being made on April 30.
It was brought up that we could use 4 more picnic tables during the bazaar. Russ offered to donate one. We should look into having a speaker outside for the gun raffle and other announcements made during
the bazaar.
There is some maintenance work needed to be done in the cemetery. We should add more plots, straighten some of the stones and the gates should be painted.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 16, 2017.

HOLY CROSS PARISH

PASTORAL MINUTES (UNAPPROVED)

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:34.  Fr David led the council in prayer.

Members present:  Phyllis Schmidtbauer, Horst Hanneken, Leonard Thesing, Sheila Rudolph, Deb Woitalla, Fr Dave, Dave Schubert, and Yvonne Kisor.

Motion was made by Dave Schubert, seconded by Phyllis to approve the minutes from the September 29th meeting.  Motion carried.

Leonard made a motion, seconded by Sheila to approve the financial report.  Motion carried.

Repairs update:  The downspouts will be done in the spring.

The finance committee recommended having a special collection for Holy Trinity and Fr Pierz School of Religion.  Special collection will be on November 27, 2016.

There has been some damage to the pews and kneelers.  Fr will address this in the bulletin and a notice will be put on the bulletin board.

The gravel has been put down for the cul de sac in the cemetery.

The next meeting is scheduled for January 19, 2016.

SEPTEMBER 29, 2016
Meeting was called to order at 7:30. Phyllis led the council in prayer.
Members present: Leonard Thesing, Sheila Rudolph, Dave Skwira, Dave Schubert, Gary Hebler, Deb Woitalla, Phyllis Schmidtbauer, Russ Woitalla, Fr David, and Yvonne Kisor.
Sheila made a motion, seconded by Deb to approve the minutes of the July 21 meeting. Motion carried.
Dave Skwira made a motion seconded by Gary to approve the treasurer's report. Motion carried.
Debra Meyer-Myrum presented Holy Trinity's financial information and enrollment information.
Deb made a motion, seconded by Gary to build a band stand, add outlets and add handi-cap accessible ramps to the Morton building. Motion carried.
Gary made a motion, seconded by Sheila to replace the bathroom stool in the basement. Presently there is a youth stool. It will be replaced with a handi-cap one. Leonard will replace it. Motion carried.
Gary made a motion, seconded by Deb to order trees for the cemetery. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Deb seconded by Russ and Phyllis to put a turn around in the cemetery. Motion carried. The proceeds from the Tree of lights and the wreath sales will towards this project.
Fr Pierz fundraising was discussed.
Rosary Sodality will have its turkey bingo November 6.
Next meeting will be November 17 at 7:30.

PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES (UNAPPROVED)

JULY 21, 2016

Meeting was called to order at 7:30 and Fr David led the council in prayer.

Members present:  Fr David, Leonard Thesing, Sheila Rudolph, Dave Skwira, Horst Hanneken, Gary Hebler, Dave Schubert, Deb Woitalla, Russ Woitalla, and Yvonne Kisor.

Deb made a motion, seconded by Gary to approve the minutes of the May 19 meeting.  Motion carried.

Leonard made a motion, seconded by Sheila to approve the financial report.  Motion carried.

Guest Chad Thesing asked on behalf of the First Responders to have a centrally located area for the First Responders to keep their equipment during the bazaar.  Location will be in the big Morton building.

The church now has an AED that was donated by the Harding Sportsmen Club.  Device is equipped with adult and youth paddles.

Henry Dambowy will make partitions in the mens bathroom for the bazaar.

Columbarium sidewalk has been completed and the stone pillars in the cemetery will be

clear coated.

The chimney flashing leak and snow blocks will be taken care of soon.

The gutter run off will be completed soon.

We are waiting for word from the company on the kitchen floor work.

Pew refinishing project is close to done.  The kneelers are done, the legs are all sanded and stained, still need poly.  The backs have been done.

Dave Schubert made a motion, seconded by Russ to pay an organist $30.00/time.  Motion carried.  Susan Kimman has agreed to play for us once a month.

Leonard is taking care of making sure the well and water are ready for the bazaar

Deb made a motion, seconded by Dave Schubert to approve the starting of a sunshine committee.  Motion carried.  Teresa Thesing has agreed to head up this project.  The parish will be responsible for the cost of cards and postage.

May 19, 2016

HOLY CROSS PARISH

PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES (UNAPPROVED)

MAY 19, 2016

Meeting was called to order at 7:30 and Fr. David led the council in prayer.

Members present:  Fr David, Dave Schubert, Phyllis Schmidtbauer, Horst Hanneken, Leonard Thesing, Gary Hebler, Dave Skwira, Ronnie Gross, Sheila Rudolph, Russel Woitalla, and Yvonne Kisor.

Council thanked Ronnie for his years of service and welcomed new member, Russel Woitalla.

Debra Meyer-Myrum gave the council a report on Holy Trinity School.  The Holy Trinity budget is on track with the decrease in the parish investment and increase in tuition and fundraising. 

Representative from Erlandson Epoxy Floor Coating met with council and presented a quote to redo the floor in the kitchen.  Ronnie made a motion, seconded by Phyllis to replace the kitchen floor.  Motion carried.  Dave Schubert will contact.

Sheila made a motion to approve minutes from the April 7 meeting.  Motion seconded by Gary.  Motion carried.

Leonard made a motion, seconded by Sheila the approve the treasurer's report.  Motion carried.

Received a quote of $6200 to replace 3 doors leading to the basement.  Bid was for the doors, jambs and labor.

There was a discussion about facility and equipment rental.  Currently the tables are not rented out and the chairs are available at no charge.  There is a $100 damage deposit on the buildings and $50 damage deposit on the chairs.  Deposits are returned if building is cleaned and chairs are returned undamaged.  Decision will be made at the next meeting as to future pricing and use.

There was discussion of obtaining an AED device and a first aid kit for the church.  Price ranges from $1200 to $2500 for an AED unit.  We will be looking into trying to get funding for one.

Lynn Woitalla has resigned from the organ playing position.  We would like to thank her for her many years of playing.  We will need to find a replacement.

There will be a bazaar meeting May 26th at 7:30.

The next council meeting will be July 21st at 7:30.

April 7, 2016

APRIL 7, 2016
Meeting was called to order at 7:30 and started with prayer.
Members present: Phyllis Schmidtbauer, Dave Schubert, Horst Hanneken, Gary Hebler, Dave Skwira, Fr David, Deb Woitalla, Leonard Thesing, Sheila Rudolph, Ronnie Gross and Yvonne Kisor.
Council heard from representatives of Holy Trinity. There are currently 168 students registered for next year, compared with 187 students who are currently attending Holy Trinity. Tuition is $1975.00 per student. Holy Trinity will be offering all day preschool next year. Parents will have the choice of full day or half day preschool.
Dave Schubert made a motion to accept the minutes of the January 21 meeting, seconded by Deb. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Leonard, seconded by Sheila to accept the treasurer's report. Motion carried.
The sidewalk around the columbarium will be completed as soon as the weather permits.
Ronnie Gross made a motion, seconded by Leonard to temporarily transfer $2000.00 from the building fund to the cemetery fund. Motion carried.
There is some water proofing that needs to be done. This will be done after the ground dries out.
The new table top in the kitchen is completed. The floor in the kitchen is a poured vinyl-like floor. Parts are cracked and some never was covered, so there is bare cement in spots. Dave Schubert will get an estimate to repair or replace.
Suggestion was made to have the cooks purchase more of the food for the bazaar. This would mean requesting for less food but a little more money on the bazaar food cards. Phyllis will meet with the other head cooks and report back to the council.
Facility and equipment fees will be addressed at the next meeting.
Motion was made by Deb, seconded by Leonard to have Horst refinish the backs of the pews and the kneelers.
It was recommended to reduce the speed of the ceiling fans. Leonard will do this.
There are 3 exterior doors with single pane glass and hollow panes. The Holy Name Society will donate money to the church to have them replaced.
Report from Fr Pierz: There were 15 students that helped with the serving at the MCCL dinner, 85 students participated at the March for Life, there were 50 students that cleaned the Pierz church, there are 60 students registered for Stuebenville with 20 more students on a waiting list.

JANUARY 21, 2016
Meeting was called to order at 7:30 and started with prayer.
Members present: Leonard Thesing, Dave Skwira, Ronnie Gross, Gary Hebler, Sheila Rudolph, Fr David, Horst Hanneken, Phyllis Schmidtbauer, Dave Schubert, Deb Woitalla, and Yvonne Kisor.
Correction to the November 19 minutes. Members present should include Gary Hebler. Deb made a motion, seconded by Phyllis to approve the minutes of the November 19th meeting with the addition to the members present. Motion carried.
Ronnie made a motion, seconded by Gary to approve the financial report. Motion carried.
The donated diamond willow cross has been hung. A donation plaque was added.
A new faucet was put in the bathroom. The light on the garage has been replaced. The church basement has been painted. The Columbarium sidewalk will be done in the spring.
Dave Schubert made a motion, seconded by Sheila to approve installation of downspouts with a maximum amount spent being $500.00. Motion carried.
Ronnie made a motion, seconded by Phyllis to install snow brackets for a price of $400.00 plus labor. Motion carried.
There was a profit of $3913.00 from the tree of lights and the wreath sales.
Amber Woitalla collected $420.00 for use of the basement on the parade night.
Deb made a motion, seconded by Sheila to fill the fuel barrel. Motion carried.
The parish has received two generous anonymous donations.
Some future repairs need are: narrow the sink drainers in the kitchen, fix the table in the kitchen area, the door going to the basement is only single pane glass and leaves in much cold air, the floor in the kitchen.
We now have oval roasters, if we had rectangle ones they would fit it the ovens better. Phyllis will check into this.
We will be looking at sample music books.
The first week in April will be nominations for parish positions. The second week will be elections.
As of the first of the year Phyllis has retired from the decorating committee.
There are several jobs in the parish that are not done by the ladies who clean every week. Phyllis will make a detailed list of the jobs.
Had a discussion on the 4 parish mission nights.
Fr Pierz will have a meeting on January 28.
Holy Trinity no report
Holy Name will have a meeting to set the bingo date.
Next meeting will be March 17.
